Lovely article, I’ve been a big fan of your substack writing. I’m going through a serious emotional and spiritual journey of self discovery right now that includes reevaluating my relationship with substances and raving, and this spoke to me quite deeply. Reminded me that my favorite experiences at parties were when I was much more intentional about my usage (mostly out of fear lol) and followed a similar protocol to your mushrooms and mate combo instead of being a free wheeling polydoser.

PS: please party promoters bring back the smart bar, if i could get fresh juice at 4am it would be a blessing

I hold the strong belief that this is the kind of education and insight many of us might have needed at one point in our lifes. Thank you so much for sharing.

The view that alcohol dampens psychedelics has definitely not gone out with the times! It is a view that this 30 year old California raver has held for many years. Also, can we bring back the smartbars?? Thank you Eris.

This is super insightful! How often do you take mushrooms? I've always been told to hold spaces between trips even if microdosing over a period of time.

Lovely writing as always, Eris. I look forward to reading and digesting your posts and this one is no exception. Participation in the spreading the education of harm reduction and intentionality is such important work, especially when it can be scoffed at and seen as “uncool” or taboo or a killjoy. Focusing on a sustainable raving helps build, enhance, and strengthen our community and keeps everyone safer. I’ve had many a conversation with friends in the scene about curating spaces at events catered towards those whom choose to not drink alcohol and a smartbar would be such a sick add to our hot cocoa/tea/coffee bar. 🤣 Keep up the great work and can’t wait for the next edition! 🫶

as a 20 year old, I don’t know a single person who doesn’t mix in alcohol when they take ecstasy, ketamine, cocaine

Thanks for sharing! Really exciting to read about how this ancient technology will possibly be a part of medical best practice in the next decade. Especially with how it can take us out of our analytical mind and help us better connect with the experience of being in our body <3

I remember that a few years ago I decided to quit alcohol for a while because the hangover were way to hard for me, even if I had only a few drinks during the night. The day after my body would make me understand that this needed to stop. I did for a year and would go out and dance for an extended time, consuming only mdma combined sometime with mate. These were for me best moments I had with that product and not when I would mix it with other substances. Thank you for the wake-up call !

so important to talk about the use of substances, and how to take the most of them to have a mind altering positive experience, i also been taking only plants, because its easy to know what you're taking. I've been thinking how this raves got the money to keep the crew, the soundsystem, the lights going, without seeling alchool, i live in the south of brazil, and raves are barely paying themselves, and the alchool consume is what pays the bill, i think a lot of how we can do things different, without this alchool focus party
